After three rounds of exhibition, the most recent ending on 30 September 2014, the Sutherland Shire Draft Local Environmental Plan 2013 (SSDLEP 2013) is nearing finalisation.

Around 1300 submissions were received during the last exhibition period. They will be reported to Council in November. Following that meeting, a final version of the Draft LEP will be forwarded to the State Government to await gazettal. The timing of the new plan is tipped to be either the end of 2014 or within the first couple of months of 2015.

The draft plan has been a long awaited revision of the existing planning controls and will involve a number of areas (mainly around stations) being a up-zoned for high density development. There are also an array of other important changes proposed affecting waterfront development, dual occupancies, lot sizes, landscaped area and heights for single dwellings.
